John Norwood

John Norwood

I am a 15-year plus member of Community Choice Credit Union. I’m a big fan of Community Choice Credit Union and the role Credit Unions play in strengthening our local economies. I have checking, business checking, a mortgage, and a line of credit that have all come through the credit union. I use the on-line banking functions regularly.

I am self-employed and the name of my business advisory consultancy is called TBL Ventures, LLC – it’s a business strategy and business advisory concern that works across the private, public and non-profit sectors to help businesses and organizations grow and improve performance both here in Iowa as well as across the County.

One of my repeat clients is the Goldman Sachs 10K small business program for Iowa. I am one of six business coaches working with business owners that run businesses from $200K to $10 million in sales. This year is my third class of scholars (close to 100 graduates) and we will be working on individual growth plans for each business.

I have more than 20 years of board service and two decades of finance experience as CEO, CFO, COO and other roles where I work closely with accounting, legal and tax professionals. At present, I serve as the treasurer of Polk County’s Soil and Water Conservation District, one of five elected officials serving four-year terms.

It would be an honor to serve on the Community Choice Credit Union board. What I will bring to the table is a focus on the interests and needs of individual credit union members. I will pledge to make sure the Credit Union continues to provide excellent customer service while delivering great member value. I also believe it’s the Board’s role to keep an eye on the future: to articulate our organization’s strategic vision while ensuring the continuing financial integrity of the institution.
